OUR HISTORY

SEPTEMBER 23, 1891

Plymouth Rock Lodge #86, founded on September 23, 1891, by Brothers George W. Waynes, , W.H. Jackson, and J.W. Blancher, stands as one of the oldest Prince Hall Masonic Lodges in Atlanta, Georgia. Its establishment occurred during a critical period in American history—the end of the Reconstruction era following the Civil War. From its inception, Plymouth Rock Lodge #86 has been dedicated to spreading the principles of Brotherly Love, Relief, and Truth within its community and beyond. Leadership and Contributions

 

 

Early Leaders: The lodge was initially led by Brother George W. Waynes, who served as its first Worshipful Master for five years. Since then, Plymouth Rock Lodge has seen a succession of 62 Worshipful Masters, each contributing to the lodge's growth and impact.

 

The current Worshipful
Master is Emmett Jimerson.

Community Engagement: Throughout its history, Plymouth Rock Lodge #86 has been actively involved in community service, awarding scholarships, and supporting various charitable initiatives. This commitment underscores its role as a pillar of community pride and loyalty. Plymouth Rock has fed various communities through Metro Atlanta, along with providing school supplies to many different Elementary and Middle Schools within the Atlanta Public Metro
School Systems. Plymouth Rock has awarded over thousands of dollars in scholarships to deserving students who might be otherwise deterred from pursuing higher learning through college education.

Masonic Leadership: The lodge has produced distinguished leaders not only within its own ranks but also as Grand Lodge Officers. Past Masters such as Ron Jefferson, Herbert Haynes Sr, Willie Prince, Byron Jones, Curtis Jenkins, John Hanson, Porter Denson, Antonio Burden, and Madison Price Sr have served with great distinction, furthering the principles and traditions of Prince Hall
Freemasonry.

Continuing Legacy
As Plymouth Rock Lodge #86 approaches its 134th anniversary, its commitment to upholding the fraternal tenets of faith, hope, and charity remains steadfast. The lodge continues to serve as a "ROCK" within the community, promoting Masonic values and fostering a spirit of unity and
service. Through its longevity and dedication, Plymouth Rock Lodge #86 exemplifies the enduring legacy of Prince Hall Freemasonry in Atlanta and beyond.
